From secured drinking Water supply in Baden-Württemberg to resilient data centres in Hessen: our reference projects show the potential of nature - when the right measures are implemented in the right place. Both were developed exclusively and in the shortest of timeframes, delivered and are already showing impact.
Groundwater recharge in Bavaria/Hessen + assessed VWB
To address the regional Water use of the AWS data centres in Frankfurt, RESPOND is developing a restoration project in a community forest in the Spessart. Wetlands and sponge forests store rainfall for longer and recharge groundwater. Annually assessed Volumetric Water Benefits (VWB) return measurable Water to the catchment. The project is permanently protected through a foundation.
Water retention in the value chain
Together with Stadtwerke Karlsruhe, RESPOND is developing a pilot project to rewet a degraded forest wetland in the Palatinate Forest Biosphere Reserve. Closing drainage ditches restores the natural sponge function of the site, which already showed first effects in the dry year 2025. This strengthens the Water resilience of the region while the site is secured and protected long term so it can continue to develop.
